Frequently asked questions

Answers to the most frequently asked questions.

I don’t speak Dutch!

No worries!
All trainers speak English and we always teach in English.Let’s go!

I'm a beginner — what's the best way to start?

We have basic/beginner classes especially for this group. But there are also technique classes, where the emphasis is on technique. There is no sparring in these classes, though you do work in pairs. You can also join the 'kickboxing with circuit' and the bag training.

Can I train at every location with one membership?

Please do. And if you like, you can also join in at the Wilhelminapark!

Can I borrow gear from you?

Certainly. If you are just starting out and want to try kickboxing, you can borrow gloves and shin guards from us. But if you decide to do it 'for real', we expect you to buy your own gear.

Where is the best place to buy my gear?

We advise against buying online. Because every brand fits differently, it matters that you try things on and get good advice. King Fight Store in Utrecht is a good shop (and gives Tigers Gym members 10% off). Rumble Store in Houten has the largest collection and gives excellent advice.

There are a lot of different gloves out there — what's the difference?

Fit, material and weight. When you buy them, get proper advice and try them on. Don't be talked into anything by a non-specialist.

What is Kickboxing & Breathing?

This is a normal kickboxing class with light sparring, but with a lot of attention paid to breathing to improve your performance. It always closes with a calming breathing session.

What is kickboxing circuit training?

A combination of kickboxing (30 minutes) and then another 30 minutes of circuit training with weights. There is no sparring in this class.

Which classes have no sparring?

Technique training, bag work and kickboxing with circuit.

I'd like to do a PT (personal training) session — is that possible?

Yes, that's possible. Head trainers Ingmar and Mark give personal training on a very limited basis. Jeroen and Federico give PTs too. Send us an email if you're interested and tell us what the goal of the PT would be.

I want to fight a match — what does that take?

Talk to one of the trainers about this: Ingmar, Mark or Rico.

It isn't for everyone — you need 'fighting spirit', iron discipline and enough (sparring) experience. There are advanced sessions you have to take part in.

Whether you are ready to step into the ring is entirely the trainer's decision.

I want to lose weight — is kickboxing a smart choice?

Kickboxing is very good for you for a great many reasons.

Fundamentally, we want you to feel good as you are. We put you in touch with your (untapped) strength and let you grow from there. Losing weight can be a result of that, but it is never the goal.

Are the events for members only?

No, everyone is welcome at all our events. All the better!

I have an injury — can I still train?

Most injuries are not visible. Always consult a doctor or physiotherapist if you are in any doubt, and above all listen to your body. Often you can still do (limited) exercises despite an injury.

Can I train with the advanced group?

This group is by invitation from one of the trainers only. We want to see first whether you can handle the level in a normal session, to avoid injuries and overestimation.

I'm going on holiday — can I pause my membership?

Great that you're going on holiday! We can pause your membership, but only for 'whole' months. So from the first day of the month to the last.

Are my membership fees collected automatically?

Yes, your membership fees are collected automatically each month.

How do I cancel my membership?

If you email us 10 days before the end of the month to say you want to stop, we will end your membership.

What is the notice period?

The notice period is 10 days before the end of the month. Just email us if you want to cancel.

Is there a confidential counsellor?

We're sorry you need this person. Arsida is our external confidential counsellor. You can email her at: evparsida@gmail.com
